From Seattle
- Fastest to take I-90 over Snoqualmie Pass and Highway 97 over Blewitt Pass.
- From I-90, take exit 85 (the second Cle Elum exit) marked to Wenatchee via 970 and 97. (82 miles)
- Take 97 over Blewett pass 35 miles)
- On the north side of the pass 97 joins with Highway 2, take a right to Wenatchee. (15 miles)
- Follow Highway 2 and 97, take a right exit as you enter Wenatchee, cross the Columbia River and take a left at the T-junction.
- Follow Highway 97 north (52 miles), take a left onto Highway 153 just before Pateros.
- Just after mile marker 21 on Highway 153, take a left onto Libby Creek Road.
- Libby Creek Road forks twice, once at 2.5 miles and again at 4 miles from the highway - stay right both times. From the second fork go 2 miles to the end of the road (past the USFS sign), and go through the green gate.
- If you are north of Seattle it may be easier to take Highway 2 through Leavenworth.
- Follow Highway 2 east. Take a right exit as you enter Wenatchee, and follow Highway 2 north, cross the Columbia River and take a left at the T-junction.
- Follow Highway 97 north (52 miles) take a left onto Highway 153 (Methow Valley Highway) just before Pateros.
- Just after mile marker 21 after you've gone through the town of Methow, take a left onto Libby Creek Road.
- Libby Creek Road forks twice, once at 2.5 miles and again at 4 miles from the highway - stay right both times. From the second fork go 2 miles to the end of the road (past the USFS sign), and go through the green gate.
From Bellingham
- Head south on I-5. take exit 232 to Sedro-Wooley. (20 miles)
- Take Highway 20 (North Cascades Highway) east to Wintrop (130 miles)
- Follow highway 20 south through Twisp (9 miles)
- Two miles south of Twisp, take a right onto Highway 153 (Methow Valley Highway).
- Stay straight on Highway 153 and follow it south through Carlton.
- One mile south of Carlton turn right onto Libby Creek Road.
- Libby Creek Road forks twice, once at 2.5 miles and again at 4 miles from the highway - stay right both times. From the second fork go 2 miles to the end of the road (past the USFS sign), and go through the green gate.
From Spokane
- Take Highway 2 west
- Take Highway 174 north (follow the signs for Republic Grand Coulee Dam) (41 miles)
- At the town of Wilbur, continue onto Highway 17 going north and head through Bridgeport (25 miles)
- Take a left at Highway 97 towards Brewster (12 miles)
- Go through the town of Pateros, cross the bridge, and turn right at Highway 153 (Methow Valley Highway)
- After you've gone through the town of Methow, just after mile marker 21, take a left onto Libby Creek Road.
- Libby Creek Road forks twice, once at 2.5 miles and again at 4 miles from the highway - stay right both times. From the second fork go 2 miles to the end of the road (past the USFS sign), and go through the green gate.
If you want to take a dip in the magnificent Methow River on the way to or from Skalitude there is a lovely public swimming hole in Carlton on the north side of the bridge, 8 miles north of Skalitude.
