7th Annual Fairy & Human Relations Congress
June 22nd - 24th, 2007
Skalitude Retreat Center ~ Twisp ~ Methow Valley ~ North Cascades ~ WA

June 16 check out the lastest changes to the schedule!

June 16 update

The energy and excitement continue to build. We are looking forward to an incredible amount of fairy blessings and wonderful human companions. The Fairy & Human Relations Congress is about opening the hearts of humanity to the fairy realm.

Skalitude Retreat Center is aglow with a profusion of wildflowers with lupine and Cusick’s sunflower being prominent at this time. Fairy lovers invariably love the Earth and Nature. You’re in for a treat because Skalitude is so remote that it is still a fully functioning ecosystem. The native plant communities are healthy and strong with all their associated animals, birds, insects and soil beings. It is beautiful!

WEATHER: The weather has been cool for the past several weeks. There have been lots of partially cloudy days with some rain. The daytime temperatures have been in the 70s and the nighttime temperatures in the low 40s. This weather trend is predicted to continue through the gathering with daytime temperatures into the low 80s.  So when you pack your clothes and sleeping gear keep this in mind. Bring enough bedding for cold nights. You will likely want warm clothing for evenings and early morning. We cannot rule out the possibility of some rain. We expect pleasant temperatures in the day.

STAFF: This is likely the largest staff the congress has had at this point in the game.  As of June 16  there are 94 people on our staff list. This includes fairy council, coordinators and work-trade people. This number will grow larger by the gathering, plus most people lend a hand in some way or another during the event. So, in one sense, you could say we are all staff. We are certainly all family.

SCHEDULE CHANGES: There have been a few recent changes in the workshop schedule. RJ Stewart moved to Saturday morning instead of Friday afternoon. Mary Getten moved to Friday morning. J. Joshua Philips moved to Friday afternoon.

LAST MINUTE REGISTRATIONS: The lower-price, pre-registration period ended on June 15. You can still get a check in the mail to us before the event if you do it in the next couple days or use paypal.  You can also pay at the door. We will accept new people at the door, so you can tell people we still have room.

WORK TRADE:  We still have some partial worktrades open. and even full worktrades for those who can come early for set up or stay late for cleanup.

COME EARLY OR STAY LATE: Set-up and clean-up are great times to be at the congress.  See things from the inside. If you have time and inclination to give us a hand before or after please contact Michael Pilarski.

It isn’t too early to start talking to the fairies, devas, and spiritual beings who will collaborate in this event. Building communication between our realms.

Last minute questions? Lindsey Swope 509-997-1032 register@fairycongress.com
or Michael Pilarski. 509-997-5780 michael@fairycongress.com
At this late stage in the game a phone call is the fastest way to reach us.

June 1 Fairy & Human Relations Congress Update

by Michael Pilarski

There are now 150 adults and 21 children on our list of people attending the Fairy & Human Relations Congress on June 22-24.  We know there are many more people who haven’t contacted us yet. Our current estimate is that around 300 people will attend. If you are planning on coming please send in your registration if you haven’t already.  We can also use more help in spreading the word via word of mouth, emails, list serves, print, postering or internet. If you could use more of our brochures, handbills or posters please contact Michael Pilarski at michael@fairycongress.com or 360-927-1274.

Keep the Fairy Congress in your prayers that everyone will have safe travels and that we will have nice weather with a “high of 85”.

2007 THEMES
Each year we have one or more special themes.
-- This year we set a theme to discuss “How many kinds of fairies are there and what do they do?”  This theme will be developed by some of the presenters, by our group discussion on Sunday morning and in personal conversations.
-- We also have been inspired to especially honor the Sun and the Water element this year.
-- The water element includes the undines and all the fairies and devas concerned with streams, rivers, lakes and oceans.
-- The sun devas are mighty indeed! The Earth, as part of this solar system, is in constant communication with the Sun. Indeed each of us is always connected to the Sun. Let us honor the Beings of the Sun. The sun, a star, is the most magnificent being in this solar system of countless beings.
-- Bring intention to communicate with water beings and sun beings.
-- At our most recent organizing meeting it was suggested by the fairies that we bring lots of crystals to this year’s congress.  So bring some crystals with you and encourage others. This can include crystals for public display or just to keep in your private possession, but nonetheless the crystals’ energies will be at the congress. Please do a cleansing/clearing of the crystals beforehand. Shebear will be one of the people tending the crystals. A team will come together at the congress to help her do this. If you’d like to help with this contact Shebear when you get to the congress.

CAITLIN MATTHEWS
We are excited to be hosting Caitlín Matthews and R.J. Stewart, two of the most eminent scholars and practitioners of  Celtic, fairy magical arts in current times.  R.J. is a familiar figure at the Fairy & Human Relation Congresses as he has been a presenter at all of them.  We are thrilled to have R.J.’s friend Caitlín Matthew from England join us for the first time. Besides sharing their fairy knowledge, they are both accomplished musicians and will be part of the Friday evening concert.

SAL RACHELE
This winter I read Sal Rachele’s book “Life on the Cutting Edge”. I was so impressed that I ordered ten more copies to loan out and asked Sal if he would present at the Fairy & Human Relations Congress. Sal said yes to presenting at the congress and will also be offering a special Monday morning workshop ($50 fee). The main topic at the Monday workshop will be on 5th plane ascension – how to access the 5th dimension. If you’d like to attend the Monday morning workshop let Lindsey Swope know. register@fairycongress.com  Sal will be doing personal readings at the Congress. www.salrachele.com

FAIRY ART GALLERY
For the first time, our fairy art gallery will have an opening reception on Friday evening from 7:00 to 8:00. This is during the dinner period. Admire the art and meet the artists. At 8:00 parade down to the concert accompanied by musicians. Bring fairy art to display, yours or others. Contact SeaHeart at seaheart@olympus.net

FAIRY CRAFT AREA
There will be a specific area set up this year to do crafts. Trish Knox, of our sponsor Commmunity Threads, will set up the space and bring material for making dreamcatchers. Other people are invited to bring craft supplies to contribute or lead a craft-making if you like. The craft area will be set up adjacent to the costuming and children’s area. If you’d like to discuss the crafts area you can contact Trish at pattysonglines@aol.com

FAIRY FOOD
We do put out a plate of food for the fairies at each meal, but it’s humans that do most of the food consumption. Aera, last year’s head cook, is back and planning yummy menus. We do large bulk orders from natural food distributors but also buy vegetables and fruit from local farmers, bread from local bakers, tofu from local tofu-makers, etc. Once again, we appeal to the participants to contribute special treats from their gardens, home-made cookies, jars of their jam or purchased healthy treats. Don’t bring cooked food that needs refridgeration. Baked goods are okay. Fruits, nuts, juices, snacks welcomed. Aera has assembled a core team of ten kitchen helpers, but of course they want to attend some of the fun and workshops as well.  Like most family reunions the congress kitchen is a cooperative affair and most everyone lends a hand. As Aera likes to point out - ¬the kitchen is fun, filled with fairy energy and a workshop in itself.

CHANGES IN THE SCHEDULE
First the two small changes:
* The Saturday afternoon circle between 4:30 and 5:00 will not attempt to be a whole group circle, but rather a short, small circle to bless the food.
* The closing circle on Sunday afternoon will start at 5:00 instead of 4:30.
* The bigger changes are in the workshop presenter schedule on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Our published schedule had R.J. Stewart presenting on Friday afternoon, but he cannot make this time so his workshop will be moved to Saturday morning.  Some of the people who had been presenting on Saturday morning will move to Friday afternoon. Stay tuned to our website if you are coming for only one specific presentation.  We try to have our workshop schedule in place well ahead of time, but there always seems to be some last minute changes.
* Shemmaho Jephi Sioux has had to cancel presenting this year to deal with a health issue. Shemmaho is well-known at the congress having participated at three or four of them and leading many dances and songs. Please send her your prayers.
* Camilla Blossom will not be attending the Congress.

YOU DON’T HAVE TO RUSH HOME.
Over the years many people have expressed they wished the congress lasted longer.  We know that most people have to get home to their other lives, but if you want a longer congress you can stay overnight on Sunday and all day on Monday. Sunday evening has always been a nice community evening with impromptu activities. Ouapiti Robintree has offered to lead Sufi zikr. This year we are offering a special workshop on Monday morning  by Sal Rachele.  The other main activity on Monday is cleaning up and taking down. Monday does involve work but it is always nice to work together. People are invited to stay and help us with the final tasks even into Tuesday. After that we all go home to a much needed rest

DAPHNE CHARTERS’ BOOK ALMOST DONE!
Volume I of the Collected Fairy Manuscripts of Daphne Charters is currently at the publishers in the layout phase. We had hoped to have it printed before the Fairy Congress but  it won’t be out till later this summer. Volume I is titled “Forty Years with the Fairies”. It will be a thick book with dozens of fascinating fairy stories. The plan is to have all of Daphne’s writings published in three volumes. Daphne Charter’s work inspired our Fairy & Human Relations Congress.  We will be offering a special pre-publication price at the congress.

If you have any questions or offers of help you can contact me at michael@fairycongress.com or call 360-927-1274.
Some partial work trade positions are still open.

We are so looking forward to seeing many of our old friends and meeting new friends at this year’s Fairy and Human Relations Congress.  Each one of us brings our contribution to the whole.
