Dr. Morgan Brent interest in medicinal and sacramental plants and fungi led to a doctoral program in ethnopharmacology and medical anthropology, but increasingly moved in the direction of ecological studies. His research eventually focused on the great herbalist traditions of the world, their role in spiritual revitalization movements, and their common prescriptive message to humanity. He now leads groups of prepared individuals to Peru for the Amazonian plantas maestras (teacher-plant) tradition of spiritual healing. Jim Butler, PhD. is a professor at the University of Alberta, Canada and is the founder of The ELFEN Project, a survey and field study of individuals who have personally encountered one or more entities that might be described as elementals, nature spirits, little people, gnomes, fauns, good people, wood nymphs, sprites, fairies, elves, apiscinisak, or any other related forms. The 2004 May Day Fairie Festival was held at Spoutwood Farm, Glen Rock, Pennsylvania on May 1st and 2nd. The festival will celebrate the beginning of spring and all of the nature spirits return to the warm world with 70 arts and crafts vendors (mostly featuring handmade art inspired by the little people), performances by celtic musicians and dancers, magicians, participatory maypole dancing accompanied by bagpipes and other music, fairie craft activities such as fairie wand and garland making involves a small fee), food vendors, fairie and other nature spirit environments to explore, a Nature Place offering a place for environmental, health, animal interest and other groups to share their vision, woodland gnome and elf tours, fairie tea parties, guest appearances by the Green Man, Shadow Fairie, and others.

The School of Healing encompasses courses, workshops and educat ional programs offered at The Hermit's Grove. The Elfen Project (Elemental Life Form Encounters in Nature) This North American project primarily studies encounter experiences of individuals with one or more entities that might be described as elementals, nature spirits, little people, gnomes, fauns, good people, wood nymphs, sprites, elves, fairies, apiscinisak, or any other related forms, from the perspectives of a respected University scientist and research team based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. ELFEN explores ethnographic records, folklore, physical and photographic evidence, viability of explanations concerning particle physics, quantum mechanics and biophysical relationships, and is the most modern information source on the subject. Shamanism
The Faery Shaman Apprenticeship Program is designed to give the dedicated student the tools she/he needs in order to enter the Inworlds at will and return with full memory of all that took place there. During the course of study you will meet your animal and ancestor guides, teachers and protectors. You will learn to travel in the various realms of Faerie and begin to work with the elementals as well as the Green Folk and Nature Spirits. Those who successfully complete this program will receive certificates of completion and are then qualified to continue with Year Two of the program.
